MISLEADING and POORLY DESIGNED WEBSITE - BAD customer service policies - they don't care about you !

I call it E-Disharmony. 1st off they advertise a deal of $19.99 per month in huge bold letters, but off to the side it says something like $79 for 3 months. I thought the $79 for 3 months must be a separate option for paying the same price. After all, why would it say in HUGE BOLD letters $19.99 per month if that option was not made available? When I got to the payment page, I was so confused and did not realize that my bank account was going to be charged $79 for 3 months. I really thought it was supposed to be $19.99 per month. I called into customer service and they told me I can't do payments of $19.99. per month. The person was so nice and really believed in how great the company was, so much to the point that I caved, when really in my gut I knew this was a red flag and that I should ask for a refund, especially as I really should not have spent $80 at that time. When I used the website, buttons were not working. Info was not getting saved. I called in for a refund, and again talked to a very "nice" person who convinced me my web browser must have a problem, helped me reset it, and convinced me maybe I just needed to get used to the site and offered me 11 more days to try it before a refund. A feature he explained to me was about hiding matches that I'm not interested in. This was good to know since the website was not correctly processing the criteria I set. I spent lot's of time trying to *** through the many "matches" that did not correspond to the criteria I set, by using their featured "hide" button. After spending 30 minutes doing this narrowing down process, I was tired and decided to do more searching the next day. The next day none of the "matches" that I hid were hid any longer, so all that time, energy and effort I spent the night before trying to organize was wasted. I tried emailing the company about some other problems and NO ONE RESPONDED !! (ANOTHER RED FLAG !!) Being an extremely busy person, working a lot and going to school, one week feels like a couple days. I hardly had a chance to test out the website, but the amount that I did was extremely tedious, time consuming, and aggravating. I emailed them to cancel and get a refund, but no one responded. The next day I called. Despite my legitimate complaints that the site was not working as they claimed, they refused to give me a refund since somehow the 11 days they gave me had expired, and my call came a few days late. I asked to speak with a manager and that person just repeated the same lines as the rep. I asked to speak with the manager's manager, but was told that could only happen through email. The manager's manager never got back to me. Also, they said if I wanted a refund they would have to send me an email that I would have to respond to. I did this and no one responded. In fact, I sent about 4 emails to them expressing various difficulties with the site, and NONE OF MY EMAILS WERE RESPONDED TO !!!! This company cares more about profits than it's customer's experience or providing a good product. It makes it's money by misleading, manipulating, and trapping customers rather than offering a good product. By the way it has operated, I DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY, and therefore, I HIGHLY DOUBT THEIR MATCH-MAKING "TESTS" ARE EFFECTIVE. THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM !!! AND HAS NO INTEGRITY !!

I tried to find out how to contact eHarmony. Most of the recent matches are from out-of-state and are way outside my preferences stated. After a few weeks of membership I started noticing matches had not even been active for over one month. What's this about?...

"Compatible" Matches Were Completely Off Base

I signed up for E-Harmony and spent an hour or so filling out the questions to get matched with "compatible" men. I don't know what's wrong with their patented questionnaire, but the men I was matched with were completely opposite of what I was looking for. I am a conservative Christian looking for a long term relationship, yet 6 of the 8 men I was matched with stated openly in their profiles that they were looking for casual sex with no commitment? If I wanted that I could go out to the bar for a lot less money. Was able to get my money refunded on the first day after a lengthy argument with someone in India. Total Waste of Time and Money.

Inappropriate Advertising

The old man, apparently CEO advertising that this is a free dating site with best results. It shows this man basking in the sun with a cocktail supposedly with a couple on Eharmony, then another ad showing him again having a cocktail with a successful couple apparently meeting on Eharmony. These ads are very unnerving and I feel completely inappropriate. Now I see an add with young children if they (at I would guess to be 6-10 years old) if they will find someone when they are older and there is this old man assuring them when they get older they will find someone if they go on Eharmony? Are you kidding me. This is an inappropriate way to pressure children years before they come of age to make their own decision! Every time this Eharmony ad, and it is a lot, I have to change the station because these ads make me, a 65 year old, very uncomfortable!

What? An ad showing an adult enjoying a cocktail unnerves you? You must live in a perpetual state of nervousness.

Continued billing even after auto renew was turned off

I assumed that since I had turned off auto renew that my billing would stop. It didn't. After two months I noticed the charges. I contacted them. They were dismissive and did not care one whit about my customer satisfaction, or the fact that the error occurred on their end. Total scam. They give a 3 day window to dispute auto renew, which of course is ridiculous since credit card charges don't even show up in that window. A customer would assume that turning off auto renew does the trick, but apparently it didn't. I would strongly recommend anyone stay away. Even as a member the matches were terrible, and I have had much better luck on other sites where I was matched with people who lived within a few hundred miles of me. In all, I can forgive the bad product. I took a chance on a service and it wasn't what I had hoped. My mistake. But I want my 2 months of fees back that I did not agree to pay those crooks.

I did tell my bank. Being the customer oriented institution that they are they gladly and quickly reversed the charges on their end.

It's all the more reason for e-harmony to be ashamed of their "customer service" by comparison.

The unethical auto-renewal policy

1. If you turn auto-renew off, because you prefer to manually renew your subscription, it will turns it back on AUTOMATICALLY if you manually decide to renew your subscription. 2. For a 3 month subscription, the ONLY way you can end your subscription is to remember to turn off auto-renew in the third month, and 24 hours before your subscription expires. Before the third month, eHarmony will not ALLOW you to say, "I want to pay for these three months, but don't renew another 3 after that". If you set a reminder to cancel on the morning your last day of service, too bad, eHarmony already renewed you and you are on the hook for another 3 months. 3. Customer service is dismissive of these issues

EHarmony is unethical and tries to scam and trick innocent customers. Their commercials portray them as a Christian organization, but they are scam artists and steal money from people who try to stop their service.

The customer service is horrible! They just don't care and refuse to refund any money regardless of how unfair that it. Buyer BEWARE!

I hope the BBB will do something about this and that people will stop using them. Keep getting this information out there!

Subscription & Profile Rort !!!

When you subscribe to this website, the system automatically sets you up to renew your subscription annually. Therefore $240 per year unless you cancel your membership, after the 3 installments are made and before the 12 months is up. Good luck remebering that in everyday life! Further, they also do not allow you to remove your profile! You have to pay $240 to use the site AND you can not close your account until all the payments are made, 3 months. At the end of the inital 12 month subscription they have renewed my subsciption for another 12 months, without sending me a reminder or renewal notice, just be debiting my PayPal account. In fact Paypal was the company to advise me of this. Now I can not close my account or remove my profile for another three months. I have not commnicated or dated anytone from this sitre, as there were no satisfactory mateces, on this absis I asked them to close my account and I have removed all content, they would not. I wonder how many profiles on their site are acutlly current, active members.......

Eharmony undisclosed automatic renewal

Hello, I am currently having 3 "renewal" payments being removed from my pay pal account because when joining Eharmony in November 2013 I didn't uncheck the automatic renewal box. I have subsequently applied via email, phone and in writing to end the membership but apparently I am legally bound to pay the renewal fees. Can anyone help with who to complain to, I have spoken to Eharmony who have stated I had only a few days when I origionally joined to change my mind and the automatic renewal process is legally binding. Many thanks They also sent v limited suitable matches and weeks would go by with ones being sent with no pictures, or from inactive or not current members. I am also still down as "active" even though I want to put the membership on hold, as I am happily dating from another site. How can I suspend the membership please?

Eharmony - Dating Site Review from Marina Del Rey, California

Unless you are in a highly populated (2+ million pop.) city, the dating pool is less than ideal and it matched me only with people way outside of my preferences. Then there were numerous glitches with the website and mobile app and they "auto-renew" you're $169 membership and refuse to refund because it's stated somewhere in their terms and conditions. Match.com provided a much more user friendly interface with a wider dating pool for a much lower price.

EHarmony Auto-Renewal Can't Be Turned Off - Even When You Think You Did! Don't Be Taken!

About 5 wks before my 6-mo subscription was to end, I went through this ridiculous maze to make sure my auto renewal was OFF! Then, 2 days after my subscription should have ended, guess what shows up on my credit card. Is there an attorney out there who'd be willing to do a civil suit against these guys. They won't refund my $$ and say I have to send an online plea and then 7-10 days later they'll 'let me know.' You gotta be kidding me! These guys need to be taken to court! They are scammers and you can go online and read TONS of these same complaints! Enough is enough. Where is a lawyer who can take this on?
