Turned off automatic renewal but was billed anyway

There are really no ways of getting rid of the subscription! 7 month ago I turned off the automatic renewal option on my profile page. I also wrote a complaint against their practice of renewing subscription without asking for a customer consent. Despite all this, the fraudulent company has billed my credit card again! Please, stay away! The services were just horrible: despite all my filters I was matched with aged uneducated truck drivers and alike. Given that I am a very attractive 30 years old woman with decent income and PhD, soon I decided to get rid of my account. Besides, I was proposed by a man that I met at work. Anyway, I am already married for 6 month, but still charged for the unwanted services and spammed with the matches. Today I cancelled my profile and blocked the credit card. Tomorrow I will cancel my bank account.

NEVER get to talk to girl !?

I was ripped off and misled !! I was charged for a year subscription and I can't EVER talk directly to ANYONE !! I send questions, answer , send, answer, send... Without EVER getting ANY info to contact anyone directly !! Then when I called eHarmony the guy said contacting the girl was up to me !?! And then he hung up on me and wouldn't tell me just how I was supposed to make contact when I didn't have ANY info to go on !!??!! Then I checked on line for complaints and saw that they renew against your desire, (even after some have cancelled !).

Suckered into 3year Plan

The options when signing up offer a monthly rate but in fact that is not an option and you have to pay for everything up front. When I contacted them for a refund they told me I was SOL and I was free to cancel and walk away from my $300. The matching process is contrived and based entirely on your self assessment of what your personality is like. I think I got maybe 1 match out of 50 that was even a half way decent match for me and when I tried to contact him there was no response so I don't even know if it was a real account! There is no real psychology behind the process, it is a computer randomly assigning matches. I can randomly walk into someone on the street, ask them out and have a better chance of being compatible.

EHarmony scam

I wished I had looked on this site before I signed up. I signed up for a 12 months subscription (decent savings over monthly rate). In all the fine print, I completely glossed over the auto-renewal clause. Overall, I wasn't impressed by the matches they sent and only went on a handful of first dates (never wanted to make it to date #2). The 12 months went by and all of a sudden, I had another 12month subscription on my credit card. Immediately reached out to cancel it - was even willing to pay for the one month extension at full rates. They said it was non-refundable. And, that the auto-renew was for "my convenience". Please...tell me, who would want to auto-renew after twelve months for another twelve months. Not me. Read the reviews...if you are tempted to join - DON'T DO IT!!

eHarmony give you no opportunity to filter by diet - in my case, to filter out meat, fish and seafood eaters, hunters and fishermen. The ignore my "Must Haves" and send me people "slightly" outside of my preferences, such as people who drink daily and smoke. Apparently...

My girlfriend tried this site for a while and kept getting matched with people who weren't active for like a month I think she said. So sounds like a scam to me, btw me and her were not together at the time.

EHarmony does not not care about its customers

eHarmony only offers you 3 days after you sign up to cancel your account. 3 days is not enough time to fully understand how their service works. It took me around 9 days to realize most of my "matches" have not even signed into their service in the last month. I even opened up my search nationwide and still over half of my matches have not used their service in the last month. I requested a full refund and the cancelation of my account due to the fact I was 100% unsatisfied with their service. They denied my request because legally they can, they did not have a rebuttal to any of the legitimate concerns I had and why I was feeling mislead. Two month's into this nightmare I have been charged $120. I am not someone who usually takes the time to write reviews, but I've never been mistreated so horribly by a company before in my life. I can't wait for the day when someone with the resources can take them to court and they get sued for all the money they have taken from myself and other's like me. PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM E-HARMONY, THEY DO NOT CARE AT ALL ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS.

eHarmony barely sends me matches (none for an entire week, even though I live close to one of the biggest cities in America), doesn't match me appropriately , and makes it impossible to get a refund even though they don't keep up their end.

I signed up for eHarmony based on their promise to match me with compatible matches. They have not done so.

I have a doctorate, and I have settings saying education is very important. They consistently match me with people who have only a high school or BA degree. I have my location settings at 150 miles, yet most of my matches are farther away. Many of the matches I get are not active on the site.

I believe they have deleted their profiles (my brother did so 2 years ago, yet his profile showed up as a match on my site.) It should not count as sending me matches if those people aren't even available. I also indicate that Christianity is very important to me, but many of those i'm matched with do not share this.

I sent in feedback once, but never got a response. I have tried to do so again, but now the feedback button doesn't work on any of my devices. There is no other way to contact them by phone or online.

I've submitted a complaint to the Better Business Bureau, but of course they say they make no guarantees of matching me. I suppose they could send me no matches for the entire time, and just say they couldn't find any.

Overall, I believe eHarmony is engaging in fraudulent business practices by not abiding by their commitment to sending quality MATCHES.

Those they send are either not available or not matches. I wanted my money back when I realized this within the first few days, but they make it impossible to get one since I don't live in LA (to walk a cancellation in), and it would cost as much to send a telegraph as the subscription.

Auto Renewal Scam

I did a 1 year membership in March of 2013. I checked in February 2014 to see what my status was. It said "Stacy, Renew Now." I chose not to. I see today that Eharmony decided to renew for me for another 12 months. It says you have a 3 day refund right, but when I pressed that they said my account is not new. It is NEW since you renewed it for a new 12 months! They are refusing to issue a refund on the charge they took TODAY without my consent. I elected to NOT renew, but that doesn't matter to them. Eharmony is a rip off! They are wanting to hold me to another 12 month contract to make matters worse when I contacted them same day over this. Stay away from this scam!

Hi Stacy,

I had the same thing happen to me and am really unhappy. I am POSITIVE I elected the non-renewal option and they are trying to tell me otherwise.

I even double checked it a week ago and all was good. Went into my bank account today just to see that they had charged me for an installment.

I am hoping to get it cleared up, but after reading your post am extra weary.

Did they ever resolve your issue?

Thanks,

Melissa

EHarmony is like eShark who sucks money with poor service

I signed up for eHarmony for a year, after 2-month, I wanted to cancel, but I was told I can only cancel within 3-day of signing up. So I'm stuck with 1-year service. It is bad that they refused to reimburse me for unused service. But the worst part is that they kept my money for a year service, after I complained, they stopped providing me the service. Basically, I paid for a year service but only received 2 month service. I complained to BBB, but they cannot do anything either. Please be careful when signing up with eHarmony, they like eShark that will suck your money.

Ive been on eharmony for over 3 months

ive been on eharmony for over three months and havent met a single person who responds with interest, i feel like im jumping through hoops trying to find the right person and being rejected on a nationwide scale, theres a reason we go online to find love when the club scene and bar scene get old, you wanna meet the right person and here i am taking the chance spending hard earned cash on a dating site just to get rejected on a larger scale then trying to find a date on the street, this just hurts me hurts my ego as a man kills my confidence and just makes me give up on love all together, and is there really any enjoyment from a loveless existence i think not, human beings are social creatures being alone is like that of the wolf, immediate fear of death because people cannot survive alone, and this site, has ruined my faith in ever finding love, i am heart broken more then when i first decided to try and find someone who will love me online,

You sound like a decent guy. I'd ask you out.

Oh wait, I hate the cold and you're way too far north for my liking. Just wondering if you know of any single guys who live in Arizona or somewhere warm most of the time?

thanks! :)

EHarmony is a scam. They trick you to join then refuse to cancel your subscription after providing HORRIBLE service.

Please warn all your friends NEVER to join eHarmony. If I could give them zero stars I would. It is a dishonest company that cons their clientele into committing for three months to a year. Then after 2 weeks of sending people who live nearby, a vast majority of which are clearly not a match to you in any way, they begin to send only EMPTY profiles of people who live a 1000 miles away or absolute NON-matches. They give no way for the member to search their site, they choose your seven matches a day and only do so if you allow eHarmony to email you. These matches begin to repeat within a month. There is a "what if" category that allows you to search a dozen potential matches they say are outside your "match range". These are random people many up to 25 years younger or older, from around the country, most of who have empty or near empty profiles with a single photo, who later end up in your daily seven actual matches. One of my daily seven matches I received from eHarmony was so clearly fraudulent they immediately began emailing me through the site, phishing me for my actual email address in broken speech. I attempted to email eHarmony to cancel and was told to call. I called and the person was really rude and then told me there was nothing they could do, that I should email the address they would send me. I emailed that address and again heard nothing. Since I emailed however, I have stopped receiving any updates on their website, which is nice, but they kept a years membership fees for 5 weeks of HORRIFIC service. I have since used their on-site messenger to attempt to receive help and still have received no reply. The site uses TV commercials to trick more people into their scam hoping no one ever reads reviews prior to signing up. If eHarmony simply said "we do not have any matches for you at this time" that would be honest. Instead they trap you for your entire period. People sincerely want to find love and companionship and eHarmony preys upon this need. I offered to pay for the time I'd used and even offered to pay double their rate and was told there's nothing they can do, I had to pay for the entire year for my one month's completely ineffective service. To refuse to refund and cancel a subscription after providing no service, after multiple requests and providing such a HORRIBLE completely fraudulent product is SHAMEFUL. If there was a class action suite I would sign on. If there is a lawyer who would like to begin the process, I will sign the complaint today. Please tell everyone you know to avoid eHarmony. Online dating can work. There are honest and effective online dating sites out there. The top two competitors of eHarmony are both genuinely good sites. I know because I've used them since my experience with eHarmony. I sincerely hope others are more fortunate and learn of eHarmony's deception before signing up. Because eHarmony will steal your money and according to the dozens of other complaints I've since read, they will renew your contract and charge your credit card even after you've cancelled. eHarmony is clearly the Enron of on-line dating.

Rude, Disrespectful Customer Service Rep

I joined eHarmony with the hopes of meeting the love of my life. I was told I had a 3 day free trial & I could cancel within 3 days and receive a full refund. I called on the 3rd day & was told I could have 14 extra days for free to see if I would start liking eHarmony. I asked what the end date would be and was told Oct. 4, 2013. But 14 extra days would actually be Oct. 9. I called back to find out that it was 14 days from the original start date. If I had listened to the girl who told me I had 14 days from the date of the call I would not have been able to get a refund. Sneaky eHarmony. I called back on October 1st and got an eHarmony rep by the name of David C. I asked him to please cancel my membership and refund my money. He argued with me for about 15 minutes telling me what I'm doing wrong and why I should keep my eHarmony account open and active. I literally repeated myself 10 more times that I just wanted to cancel my account and receive a refund. He continued to argue with me until I became so frustrated I started crying. He then became very rude with me telling me that I'm outside my cancelation window. I told him that I was offered a 14 day extension. He then put me on hold. When he finally came back he told me that I was not allowed to have a 14 day extension of my free trial period. He told me like it was my fault eHarmony gave me the extension & like I have no right to be asking for that extension to be honored. David C. with eHarmony was an arguementative, rude, distasteful representative that should seriously not be working with the public. Especially not with a company that is supposed to be supportive and helpful. I will never join eHarmony again. Shame on them for treating customers this way.

Free weekend for who?

Either eHarmony has no one interested in their free weekends... or me as a paying member am not thrown in the pool for the freebies to check out my profile. This is a free weekend and there has not been one single solitary view of my profile by interested guys... Do they only let the freebies try to communicate with one another and then run out of time before anything can possibly connect??? I call B.S. on them... I am quitting A.S.A.P., and I hear that is a hassle in and of itself... oh yay
